Getting headshots for your office team can be a hassle. If you have a small office team of up to 10, this can be done pretty easily. But once we start seeing 50-150 people, things can get much more complicated. I’m here to help make it much easier.

Having headshots taken at your office is often the best way to get everyone in one place without disrupting your business day too much. Can you imagine trying to schedule 50 of your employees for headshots and then having them all travel to a studio, find parking, be on time, and not be stressed out?

When I’m shooting more than ten people in an office setting I like to create a timeline with a specific time for each person. This way everyone knows when they need to be in the room, ready to have their headshots taken. This really helps reduce stress, especially for those that are anxious to be in front of the camera. For this project, we scheduled everyone in 5-minute slots. Everyone knew about the headshot day weeks in advance and had plenty of time to consider wardrobe for the day and get hair and makeup in order.

When I was called to shoot 150+ people for Kaiser Family Firm in D.C, I set up a meeting with my contact person to come and see the space in Washington D.C, choose our locations and create the timeline more than a week ahead of time. This gave us plenty of time to make adjustments. We ultimately created three headshot timelines over two and a half days, this way we’re not overstressing everyone involved. Francis was clear with me on what type of headshots they wanted, 3/4 and tighter headshots, and what kind of lighting they wanted. We needed to be consistent with how the headshots were being photographed in their San Francisco office.

Use Your Office Space As A Backdrop For Your Office Headshots!

The Kaiser office had some really beautiful areas that made great backdrops for their headshots so we decided to not use the typical gray or white, instead we ] used two different locations in the office as our backdrop. This not only brings context to the headshots but also helps bridge the gap between their business and their potential clients. Once they’ve seen your headshot online and the space where you’ll meet, they’ll feel more comfortable when they come in to meet you face to face.

By using more than one space in the office we were able to show more variety with the images. We decided to also photograph each person with a 3/4 photo as well as a typical tight headshot. Washington D.C is loaded with gorgeous buildings, it’s not too hard to find a spot outdoors to shoot and most offices in downtown have beautiful interiors.
