Wondering What To Bring To A Headshot Session?
Curious about what to bring to a headshot session? This is something I go over with each client before our session. I like to have this conversation early before the session so you have time to prepare your wardrobe, cut a haircut, get some rest, and stay hydrated. All things that will make your session much smoother. Let's talk about a few things you should bring to your headshot session that can make your session more relaxed.
Wardrobe
Firstly, let's talk wardrobe. This is the same for men and women. Bring what you feel AMAZING in! Need to get it tailored? do it, dry clean it, and have it pressed. Does it make you feel like a supermodel in something? BRING IT! If you feel killer in it, that confidence will show when we are shooting and it will feel natural. If you're trying to squeeze into a dress or a suit from your high school prom, you're going to be very uncomfortable and it will show.
Men, bring a few ties. We don't have to shoot each one, but, better to have it and not need it. Bring a few blazers or jackets if you have them, options are best. Again, we don't need to shoot everything you bring, but, better to have it. Please be sure to have your outfits dry cleaned and bagged a few days before. Please don't shove a few shirts in a backpack and then pull them all out when you get here.
Women, BRING YOUR FAVORITE SHOES! Again, this goes to how you feel during your session. If you feel like a million bucks in your favorite heels, then bring them, even though we won’t see them, the confidence will show on your face. Bring a few small, conservative-sized pieces of jewelry. Big hoop earrings and such can be distracting. We want the focus to be on your face and not the giant earrings.
The Little Extras
Secondly, the little things. Bring extra lip gloss, makeup, a compact mirror, and water. I often can have a stylist here to do your hair and makeup for you if you'd like to have one. It's a separate fee paid directly to the stylist. They take care of EVERYTHING for you! Often, they stay for the duration of the shoot to do any little touch-ups, and make the hair change a snap! Just pack a small bag with your makeup, and hair products that you might need, especially during the humid months when hair can get frizzy.
Lastly, bring an open mind, and be ready to have a great time. I promise this won’t be a stuffy J.C. Penny photo session. We're going to be relaxed, have fun, and make some killer headshots.
