Here’s How I do Company Headshots In Montgomery County
MY SET-UP I have a mobile version of my studio that I bring along to all my on-location company headshot sessions. It doesn’t take up much room so there is little disruption to your office workflow and schedule. I do suggest planning on using a larger space so that we all have room to move comfortably.
Scheduling. We can work together to create a schedule so that each person has a time when their headshots will be photographed. This saves people from having to stand around and wait. If I can get about 5 minutes per person that’s enough time to make sure that clothes, hair, and makeup look good and still get great headshots for each person.
Coaching Each person will get coached on pose and expression. I know most people hate having their photos taken and are anxious when it’s there turn. This coaching helps people relax and enjoy the process, this way we get natural expressions from everyone.
Selecting Images At the end of each person’s time, we’ll have a quick look at the laptop, go through the photos, and select their favorite image. This way if they need to do a quick re-shoot we can catch it right at the moment.
Retouching Once I get the images back to my studio computer they will be professionally retouched and edited. Images will be color-corrected, and skin blemishes and stray hairs will be removed. I deliver images in high resolution for your print marketing needs and also in web resolution for all your online digital needs. Final images will be delivered within 14 days.

Q: How important is a consistent wardrobe in an on-location Companhy shoot?
A: A common theme could be useful, but it is not as important as you might think. Because we’re on location in the Rockville or Washington DC area-, will the common background and position will do a lot to “brand” each photograph - even if the wardrobe elements do not match from person to person? More important than color or type, is comfort. Feeling confident and comfortable in your clothing, hair, and makeup can be conveyed in your headshots!
Q: Can we discuss possible locations within our offices before you arrive?
A: Sure - and you’re welcome to send some photos from around the office. We’ll discuss our space requirements at the time of booking and we can be flexible once we get on location and have a look at the lighting and layout. The weather that day could even impact our choice of location due to grey skies and odd lighting.
Q: How can we help our team prepare for your on-location day to maximize time and minimize anxiety and impact?
A: Please reassure the team that John has extensive experience in making each subject of his headshot photos feel at ease and comfortable with the process. He’ll help with posing and getting just the right smile and expression. For their part, a comfortable but professional & confident wardrobe, their favorite makeup looks (subtle is the name of the game here), and a good night’s rest and ample hydration will set the session up for success.
Q: How long will it take to get our photos back? Will they come to us digital or print (or both?)
A: Along with your wardrobe options - bring your favorite little things - lip gloss, extra makeup - a compact mirror, and your favorite water bottle. I can have a stylist on hand to do hair and makeup if you prefer. Let’s talk about it and design the best possible experience for YOU! You may wish to wear your doctor’s coat with your name and hospital/clinic logo for a healthcare worker or physician headshot. Be sure it’s pristine and pressed - every speck and wrinkle can show up on light-colored fabrics in a headshot photo.
